Virigina Oechsner (1921 – 2017) was a Wichita Falls native who spent much of her life in Dallas and her later years in Albuquerque before returning to Wichita Falls. Included in multiple Dallas exhibits in the 1950s and 60s and in the permanent collection of the Dallas Museum of Art, her artwork is considered integral to the development of mid-century modernist sculpture in Texas.
Her sculptural work was often an expression of her deep love of nature. She frequently worked with found natural materials and developed pieces from the inherent internal forms of the media she used.
The NorthLight is honored to present this retrospective of Ms. Oechsner’s work through the generous support of her family, including the extensive collection of Christy and Kim Henry.
The NorthLight is on the first floor of The Kemp Center building located at 1300 Lamar, Wichita Falls, TX 76301. Call for further information: 940-767-2787 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
